Are You Hiding Behind Your Age?
Are You Hiding Behind Your Age?
Many people come into our offices with the misconception that bone degeneration, spurs and spinal rotting are just a “normal” process of aging. This is unfortunately not true, as anyone who has studied biomechanics, physics and bone deformation can tell you. We are here to help at New Life Chiropractic in Fort Wayne, In.
Yes, it is very common to see people develop degeneration and spurs as they age, but like anything else, that just means that it occurs often. Just because it happens often and that it is common to see, does not make it normal. This explains why many people will come into a chiropractic office with no ‘Arc of Life’, and bone spur formation in their 20’s and 30’s and the same day someone will come in with an ‘Arc of Life’ and little to no bone spurs in there 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Think of the spine like teeth, most people are taught from a young age to brush their teeth 3-4 times per day to prevent progressive decay. Brushing, however, does not eliminate decay, but is a process of preventing as much as possible to ensure strong healthy teeth. People who have great dental hygiene, and have taken good care of their teeth will have much better teeth, than people who neglect them. The same thing applies to the spine. If you take care of your spine, being certain to get checked and/or adjusted, doing your spinal rehab, and exercise on a regular basis, your chances of having spinal decay and rotting are then lessened.
Bone studies have been done for many years, beginning as early as 1638(Galileo) that showed a proportional relationship of applied force and/or pressure to bones and the effects and degeneration thereof. What the bone and degeneration studies all come down to is something called Wolff’s Law. Wolff’s Law basically states that bone will remodel to stress placed upon it. In other words, Wolff’s Law is like the Law of Gravity, which says that if you’re holding a set of keys and you let go of them, they will fall. Wolff’s Law says that if you put stress on a weaker part of a bone, it will degenerate and rot much faster! And so, when the spine is in the correct position, where posture is good, with your head over your shoulders, the ‘Arc of Life’ or curves of the spine are present, and you are daily doing something positive for the spine, the degenerative process will be much less.
Keep in mind that if you’re not doing something for your spine, everything you’re doing is against it. Also, remember that the purpose of the spine is to protect the delicate nerve tissue. So, the reality is that this bone degeneration and rotting of the spinal column is life threatening, because if the spine is rotting and choking off the flow of life, your body cannot function according to God’s creation, causing the disease process, symptoms and early death.
Be certain to have your family checked immediately, especially your kids and grandkids. Keep your child’s spine healthy their entire life and teach them at a young age how to take care of themselves to maintain great levels of health.
